How Much Does a Private Cargo Jet Cost to Rent?

How Much Does a Private Cargo Jet Cost?

A common question when it comes to the subject of private planes, is How Much Does a Private Cargo Jet Cost to Rent?

Like most things in life when it comes to determining price it comes down to “it depends”. There are a number of factors that come into play when looking at the total private cargo jet cost.

The total cost of the flight is mostly determined by the type of aircraft that you are looking to rent. It is also factored by how far you are looking to go.

Unlike flying on a commercial aircraft, the cost has nothing to do with the load factor on the aircraft. If the plane is carrying a single box or maximum cargo, the hourly cost will be the same.

The larger the private cargo jet you rent the more the hourly cost will be. This is due to the higher purchase price and it more maintenance and fuel to keep going. This is a trade off for carrying more so the costs are more distributed.

The total time of your flight is determined by block hours. Block hours are counted from the time the parking brake is released at the origin. The timer does not stop until the brake is put back on at the destination. The pricing covers the entire time the plane is in motion, including taxiing at the airports and flying. You are not responsible for the time it takes to load the plane or the time it takes to prepare the plane for your trip.

Private Cargo Jet Cost Example

Typical private cargo jets costs are $1,500 per block hour for a small turboprop. It can go up to $12,000 per block hour for a larger jet. The cost varies due to the size and the amenities available on board. Private cargo jets fly about as fast or faster than commercial airlines. It would take about 6 hours to fly from New York to Los Angeles, plus approximately 1 hours of taxiing time in total for 7 block hours. At an average of $4,000 per hour, the flight would cost $28,000.
